Youth Development Workshops – Several currently offered Youth Work Methods workshops and other adult trainings are published in our events calendar. CYC customizes workshops on a regular basis for entities who have a training need that is not addressed in our publicized workshops. These trainings are often closed to the public and will range in topic. We consistently tailor the trainings to fit the audience. We have done multiple tailored workshops for the following entities:
AdventureTime Family Services, Chrysalis Foundation Afterschool programs, Youth Emergency Shelter and Services, Youth and Shelter Services, SATUCI, Iowa Commission on the Status of Women, and Iowa Department of Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention. Contact us to learn more.
Youth
Youth Venture Challenge – CYC hosts a Youth Venture Challenge up to three times/year depending on funding. The Challenge allows youth interested in Youth Venture to develop goals, plans, project timelines, and project budgets. During Challenges, CYC is able to pull in business partners who serve as technical allies to help the youth refine their plans. Past technical allies include staff from Principal Financial Group, Des Moines Register, Juice, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Meredith Corporation, and Empressa Group.
Dream it. Do it. Workshops – The Dream it. Do it. (DIDI) Workshop opens the door to allow youth to think about how they would like to get involved in their community.  The approach is a non-threatening and thought-provoking look at how small actions can make a big difference. DIDI workshops run approximately 45 minutes in length, but can be shortened or lengthened to meet your needs. After the workshop, youth can continue to work with Youth Venture through individualized technical assistance, Youth Venture Challenge, or by connecting into our youth volunteer network.
