In every school, there are students who could benefit from additional homework assistance. In many instances, just having a caring peer concerned enough about their progress to check-in on homework completion, how the latest test went, and their general interests can make a significant difference. When possible, tutoring or mentoring should be done an average of one hour/week. To find out what mentoring programs might be in your area, visit the Iowa Mentoring Partnership’s website. Your local school district, community-based after school program, or school-based afterschool program can direct you to tutoring opportunities. The Iowa Afterschool Alliance is a great resource to find afterschool programs in your community.
