WHAT: Global Youth Service Day “What’s Your 50?” Volunteer Recognition and $500 Scholarship Ceremonies

During the service day celebration from 3:00-4:00 pm, twenty-five youth will be recognized for completing 50+ volunteer hours. Some volunteer projects include assisting refugees, organizing sock drives for the homeless, volunteering at animal shelters, and community garden work. The following students will be recognized:

 The Addam C. Medina Foundation will host their annual event from 6pm – 10pm at the Iowa State Historical Museum, 600 E Locust Street. Beginning at 6:30 pm, six graduating seniors, Hanna Anderson, Katie Foley, Elena Hildebrandt, Mary Korch, Lucas Schmidt, Madeline Ungs, each with more than 100 hours of volunteer service will be awarded $500.00 scholarships. Special thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Des Moines, Sloan and Amy Cownie and the Addam C.
